“Whoever loves for the sake

Hadith on Faith: Whoever loves, hates, gives, and withholds for the sake of Allah has perfected his faith
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah, and withholds for the sake of Allah has perfected the faith.”
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book of Sunnah, Number 4681, Hasan]

Abdullah ibn Rawahah: The parable of faith is that of a shirt a person might wear or remove

Hadith on Islam: A person might be a Muslim outwardly but not true believer inwardly
Sa’d reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, distributed charity among people while I was sitting nearby but he left a man whom I considered the best of them. I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, why have you left this person? By Allah, I reward him as a faithful believer.” He said, “Or merely a Muslim.” I remained silent for a while but I could not help repeating my question because of what I knew about him. Then I asked him, “Why have you left so-and-so? By Allah, he is a faithful believer.” He said again, “Or merely a Muslim.” I could not help repeating my question again because of what I knew about him. Then the Messenger of Allah said, “O Sa’d, I may give alms to one person while another is dearer to me, for I fear he might be thrown by Allah onto his face into the Hellfire.”
[Sahih Bukhari, Book 2, Number 27]
