Sa’eed ibn Jubair reported: I was in the presence of Ibn Umar when we passed by a group who had tied down a chicken and they were using it as a target. When they saw Ibn Umar, they fled and left it behind. Ibn Umar said, “Whoever has done this, verily the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, has cursed whoever has done this.”

In another narration, Ibn Umar said the Prophet has cursed whoever mutilates an animal.

عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَمَرُّوا بِفِتْيَةٍ أَوْ بِنَفَرٍ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً يَرْمُونَهَا فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا ابْنَ عُمَرَ تَفَرَّقُوا عَنْهَا وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَنَ مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا

عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ لَعَنَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِالْحَيَوَانِ

 Abdullah ibn Yazid Reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him prohibited plundering and mutilation.
