Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ was nearing 50 years while the mother of believers Sayyida Khadija (rz) passed away at the age of 65. Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ and Sayyida Khadija (rz) had lived in harmony for about 25 years. Sayyida Khadija (rz) was not just a life partner to Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ but also His close friend who helped Him in hard times with strong emotional and financial support. She was a loving mother to Rasoolullah's ļ·ŗ household and children: Sayyiduna Qasim, Sayyiduna Abdullah, Sayyida Fatima, Sayyida Umm-ul-Kulsum, Sayyida Zainab and Sayyida Ruqayyah (Allah is pleased with them all).

Apart from them, Sayyida Khadija (rz) also took care of Sayyiduna Ali and Sayyiduna Zaid (Allah is pleased with them both). Before the passing away of Sayyida Khadija (rz), Jibraeel (on Him be peace) came to Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ to convey Salams from Allah to Sayyida Khadija (rz). The greeting were also accompanied with a godly message to Sayyida Khadija (rz) that Allah has prepared an abode for her in the paradise. Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ was now alone without Sayyida and cared His children alone.

Few days later, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ incurred another loss. His caretaker and support, Abu Talib, fell ill and it became very clear that he will not survive. During this time, the leaders of Quraish visited him and asked him to pressurize Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ to renounce His missionary activities. Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ gestured that he wouldn't renounce it and the leaders left.

Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ turned His beautiful face towards Abu Talib with a strong desire that he should enter Islam. He said: "Uncle, say the words (shahadah) with which I should intercede for you on the day of resurrection." Abu Talib replid: "Son of my brother, if I didn't fear that Quraish would think that I recited kalimah by fearing death, I would say it. Would my utterance be to please you(?)"

When death neared Abu Talib, Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (rz) saw him moving his lips, so he put his ears close to listen what he was saying. He told Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ: "My brother has spoken the words that you asked him to speak." But Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ said that he didn't listen them.

Rasoolullah ļ·ŗ was now left with no official support in Mecca which hindered His missionary activities. It was also clear that much more difficult days were ahead of Him, His followers and Islam.

Jazakum Allah Khair,
