Ibn Al-Qayyim reported

Ibn Al-Qayyim reported: Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “Whoever issues a judgment (fatwa) to people about everything that he is asked, then he is foolish.”

Ibn Sireen, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “For a man to die ignorant is better for him than to speak about what he does not know.”

عن ابن القيم رحمه الله عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رضي الله عنه مَنْ أَفْتَى النَّاسَ فِي كُلِّ مَا يَسْأَلُونَهُ عَنْهُ فَهُوَ مَجْنُونٌ

وَقَالَ ابْنُ سِيرِينَ رحمه الله لَأَنْ يَمُوتَ الرَّجُلُ جَاهِلًا خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَقُولَ مَا لَا يَعْلَمُ
